A 3U rackmount computer has an advantage over its 1U and 2U counterparts in that add-on cards can be mounted vertically making it a simple matter to pop in the latest and greatest graphics adapters and other high-end, third-party cards. The RX-3392 offers that and a whole lot more. The front holds nine 5.25” drive bays, eight already set up as swappable, removable hard drive stations. There’s an internal 3.5” bay for a ninth hard drive making multi-RAID 5 configurations possible. The standard configuration includes an Intel Pentium dual core processor, 256MB RAM and one 250GB hard drive, but this system can be beefed up to suit your needs. It’s 26” deep, deep enough to take an extended ATX motherboard. It comes with a 500W power supply standard. Dual redundant power supplies are available. The cooling design includes three 80mm ball-bearing fans mid-chassis and two 60mm fans at the rear. Two front USB ports afford convenience plugging in peripherals like keyboard and mouse. Whether it’s a file server, database server, closed circuit TV DVR appliance or other large storage uses the RX-3392 is more than up to the task.
